UK Car Factories

The UK isn’t known for its car manufacturing but there are actually 35 car assembly plants in the UK and in 2018 the industry produced 1.5 million passenger cars and 85,000 commercial vehicles which generated a turnover of £82 billion and generated £18.6 billion for the economy and put 168,000 in employment. The UK automotive industry dates to the end of the 19th century and by the 1950’s the UK was the biggest car importer in the world and second-largest car manufacturer after the United States.
