From a finance point of view in 2020, there is very little difference between owning a diesel or petrol car. For those with heavy car usage you may end up spending slightly less on fuelling your car over the year with a diesel, you aren’t making aren’t saving as much as you may think because of the things you may not account for such as the higher tax cost for diesel cars and the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) charge in London. Also, when you end up selling your car you may receive a lower resale value. I have created an Infographic below to further explain the pros and cons of petrol vs diesel cars.
